Jakarta, November 4, 2026 – Developing infrastructure on soft soil presents increasingly complex engineering challenges, requiring solutions that enhance foundation stability while optimizing material use. In response to these challenges, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (“Solusi Bangun Indonesia”), together with Japan’s Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, introduced CLEAN SET, an innovative soil stabilization solution designed to improve soil bearing capacity and strengthen long-term infrastructure resilience. The innovation was presented at the 30th Annual Scientific Meeting (PIT XXX) of the Indonesian Society for Geotechnical Engineering (HATTI), held at Bidakara, Jakarta, on November 3–4, 2026.
The event brings together experts, practitioners, academics, and professionals from the geotechnical industry. It provides an opportunity for Solusi Bangun Indonesia and Taiheiyo to introduce soil stabilization technology as an alternative construction solution, particularly for areas with soft soil that has low bearing capacity and is prone to settlement.
The development of CLEAN SET is part of the strategic collaboration between Taiheiyo and PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk. The partnership began in 2021 and was expanded through a business agreement in January 2026. This collaboration combines Solusi Bangun Indonesia’s capabilities in the building materials industry with Taiheiyo’s experience and technology from Japan, a country that faces complex geotechnical challenges in infrastructure development.
Solusi Bangun Indonesia Offtake & Partnership Director, Yasuhide Abe, said that soil stabilization innovation is part of the Company’s commitment to providing construction solutions that address the needs of future infrastructure development.

As climate change challenges increase and soil conditions become more complex, construction requires an approach that is not only technically sound but also efficient in its use of materials. Through CLEAN SET, we offer an alternative solution to improve soil stability and support the development of more resilient and sustainable infrastructure,” said Yasuhide Abe.
CLEAN SET is developed to improve the shear strength and bearing capacity of soft soil through a stabilization process using binding materials. This approach makes it possible to use soft soil that would otherwise have limited suitability for construction, reducing the need for soil replacement and other conventional ground improvement methods.
Compared with conventional methods such as soil replacement and vertical drains, CLEAN SET offers the potential to use materials more efficiently, shorten construction time, and reduce the need to handle and dispose of excess soil. Its application can therefore provide technical, environmental, and construction cost benefits.
In addition to improving foundation stability and minimizing the risk of soil settlement and movement, this approach can also extend infrastructure service life. More measured and efficient material use helps reduce environmental impacts and the potential rehabilitation costs associated with structural damage in the future.
The soil stabilization solutions developed by Solusi Bangun Indonesia and Taiheiyo have been applied in several construction projects in Indonesia. One example is the Penggaron Section of the Semarang–Solo Toll Road, which has soft soil conditions and is prone to settlement. Stabilization technology is used to strengthen the road foundation so that it can continuously support traffic loads. Similar solutions have also been applied in several projects in Kalimantan, as well as in the construction of warehouses, shopping centers, and parking facilities in Cikarang and Bekasi.
Through their participation in the 30th HATTI Annual Scientific Meeting, Solusi Bangun Indonesia and Taiheiyo are also creating opportunities to exchange knowledge and hold technical discussions with stakeholders in the geotechnical field. This initiative is expected to broaden understanding of alternative soil stabilization technologies and encourage their application in various infrastructure development projects across Indonesia.
