Jakarta, 28 March 2025 – PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (“the Company”) continues to demonstrate that industrial performance can go hand in hand with environmental responsibility. Amid a contracting domestic market and weakened consumer purchasing power, this subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) remains committed to sustainability as a competitive advantage—delivering low-carbon cement for various customer development projects.
Indonesia’s cement industry continues to face challenges from a highly competitive domestic market and persistent oversupply. According to the Indonesian Cement Association, domestic cement sales volume in 2024 reached 64.9 million tons, down 0.9% from 65.5 million tons in 2023. This decline was influenced by slower infrastructure development—both in Java and in projects such as the IKN capital relocation in East Kalimantan—and a property sector that has yet to fully recover.
By the end of 2024, the Company recorded total sales volume for cement and clinker of 13.19 million tons. Revenue stood at IDR 11.82 trillion, gross profit at IDR 2.55 trillion, and net profit at IDR 745 billion. Despite market headwinds, effective financial management enabled the Company to reduce financial expenses by 2.2% year-over-year.
Responding to the Company’s performance, President Director Asri Mukhtar stated that the Company will continue strengthening competitiveness through synergy with SIG.
“Solusi Bangun Indonesia is preparing strategies to increase competitiveness this year through the introduction of innovative, low-carbon products, customer-centric digital transactions, and enhanced production efficiency and reliability to preserve profitability,” said Asri Mukhtar.
Firm Commitment to Green Industry Transition
Solusi Bangun Indonesia’s sustainability commitment is grounded in urgency. Asri Mukhtar emphasized that sustainability and green industrial transition are now a necessity.
“Today’s development must go beyond structural strength—it must also be environmentally responsible,” he stated.
This commitment has been recognized through two Gold PROPER awards for the Company’s Cilacap Plant (Central Java) and Lhoknga Plant (Aceh) (operated by subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Andalas), as well as a Green PROPER award for the Tuban Plant (East Java), issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia.
“These awards reflect outstanding environmental performance, social innovation, and collaboration among the Company, local communities, and stakeholders in achieving sustainable development,” said Asri Mukhtar.
He also credited employees for the achievement, stating,
“This success is the result of collaboration and dedication by all SBI employees who consistently prioritize resource efficiency, social innovation, and environmentally responsible operations.”
Solusi Bangun Indonesia continues to execute its 2030 Sustainability Roadmap through key initiatives, including the installation of large-scale solar panels at the Tuban Plant, and expanded use of biomass, refuse-derived fuel (RDF), and qualified industrial waste as alternatives to fossil fuels and raw materials. In 2024, the Company reduced its carbon emissions by 16.6%, from 685 kg CO₂/ton cement equivalent in 2010 to 572 kg CO₂/ton in 2024.
Social Commitment and Climate Resilience
In the social domain, Solusi Bangun Indonesia recorded 1.1 million beneficiaries from its community development and empowerment programs in 2024, up from 959,000 beneficiaries in 2023. All four cement plants received “Approval” status in the Social License Index, indicating the Company’s success in building and maintaining positive community relationships.
In addition to the PROPER awards, the Company’s climate strategies also earned it recognition at the Investing on Climate Editor’s Choice Awards 2024, hosted by the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The Company received accolades for The Best Green Product and The Best Literacy for Climate Resilience, further reinforcing its role as a leader in sustainable building material solutions.
Supporting Eid 2025 Travel with Strategic Toll Infrastructure
As the 2025 Eid holiday season approaches—a peak period for nationwide travel—Solusi Bangun Indonesia has supplied bulk cement and fast-curing innovative concrete to support construction and repair of key toll roads that serve as major homecoming routes. These include Cikopo–Palimanan, Probolinggo–Banyuwangi, Serang–Panimbang, Jakarta–Cikampek, Cimanggis–Cibitung, and parts of the Trans-Sumatra network, including Tebing Tinggi and Pematang Siantar toll roads.
“We fully support infrastructure development aimed at enhancing safe, comfortable, and efficient mobility through the use of green cement and sustainable solutions—because resilient infrastructure is a foundation for equitable economic growth across Indonesia,” said Asri Mukhtar.
Business Outlook 2025
The Company anticipates relatively stable growth in Indonesia’s domestic cement market in 2025. To capitalize on this outlook and diversify revenue streams, it is preparing to expand export markets in synergy with SIG and strategic partner Taiheiyo Cement Corporation.
“Innovation is key—how we create added value and become the preferred choice for customers. Solusi Bangun Indonesia’s portfolio positions us to serve everything from retail to large-scale construction, by optimizing production and distribution networks in synergy with SIG,” Asri concluded.
He added that the export initiative, including entry into the United States market, is not just about expanding access but also about improving plant utilization.
“Our expansion into the U.S. market reflects Solusi Bangun Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening competitiveness and expanding its global footprint,” he closed.
