Jakarta, February 25, 2025 – PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) once again earns national recognition for its consistent efforts and innovations in implementing sustainability principles. The company secured two Gold PROPER Awards and one Green PROPER Award from Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLH). The Gold PROPER Awards were granted to the Cilacap Plant in Central Java and the Lhoknga Plant in Aceh (operated by subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Andalas), while the Tuban Plant in East Java received the Green PROPER Award. SBI President Director Asri Mukhtar also received the Madya Green Leadership Award at the PROPER awards ceremony held at Sasono Langen Budoyo, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, on February 24, 2025.
In his remarks, Minister of Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that PROPER not only promotes environmental compliance but also drives ecological and social innovation. “PROPER is expected to elevate Indonesian companies to global standards in environmental management,” said Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.
SBI President Director Asri Mukhtar emphasized that the PROPER Awards symbolize the collaboration between the company, communities, and stakeholders in executing sustainability strategies, fostering eco-innovation, and empowering local communities, all of which align with the company’s roadmap to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
“The Gold and Green PROPER recognitions reflect our strong commitment to sustainability that goes beyond regulatory compliance, delivering real impact for both the environment and community empowerment,” said Asri Mukhtar. He expressed appreciation to all SBI employees, noting that the achievement is a result of their collaboration and dedication to resource efficiency, social innovation, and environmentally responsible operations.
“SBI remains committed to advancing sustainability efforts as part of its responsibility to create positive value for the environment, society, and stakeholders,” he added.
Through various strategic initiatives under the 2030 Sustainability Road Map, SBI—a subsidiary of SIG—continues to strengthen its leadership as a responsible and sustainable building materials industry in Indonesia. “This achievement is a result of our team’s unwavering dedication. Thank you for ensuring that our business operates responsibly and brings broad benefits,” said Asri Mukhtar.
Gold Award Milestone for Cilacap Plant
The Gold PROPER awarded to SBI’s Cilacap Plant in Central Java marks the eighth such achievement for the Dynamix cement producer. The award highlights the plant’s innovation in environmentally friendly waste management through its refuse-derived fuel (RDF) facility in Jeruklegi, Cilacap. This facility utilizes biomembrane technology to reduce waste moisture from 55% to 25% via biodrying, increases calorific value to 15 MJ/kg, and processes 160 tons of waste per day into eco-friendly alternative fuel.
On the social front, the Cilacap Plant has developed the Baruwani Circular Hub Collaboration Space—a platform that engages communities in productive waste management while serving as a hub for social initiatives that foster environmental stewardship.
First Gold for Aceh: A Symbol of Ongoing Collaboration and Innovation
PT Solusi Bangun Andalas earned its first Gold PROPER thanks to initiatives such as using scrap pallets as alternative fuel, rainwater harvesting in production, emission reductions through coffee husk fuel, and utilizing pozzolan to produce lower-carbon Andalas cement, with 32% less emissions than conventional cement.
At the community level, the company runs the “Solusi Bersama Jaga Ekosistem Pesisir dan Laut Bebas Sampah” program, which processes 300 kg of plastic waste monthly and transforms coconut fiber into economically valuable coco fiber capable of filtering up to 500 liters of wastewater per week. The program also empowers locals through Hong Kong caterpillar farming as an income-generating quail feed business—a livelihood boost for vulnerable groups.
Green Operations and Community Empowerment at Tuban Plant
At its Tuban Plant, SBI promotes sustainable operations through the use of biomass such as corn cobs, rice husks, and tree branches as alternative fuel. This program not only supports clean energy transition but also boosts local economies by engaging communities as biomass suppliers.
In community development, the plant manages a rainwater reservoir in the mining area to support local agriculture. The Banyusora program enhances agricultural productivity from cultivation to market access. This holistic approach strengthens both environmental resilience and the socio-economic wellbeing of nearby communities.
