Jakarta, October 14, 2025 – PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk held a customer gathering for Nathabumi, its environmentally friendly waste management business unit, on October 14, 2025, at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta. Under the theme “Sixnificant Journey: Moving Forward, Making Impact,” Nathabumi marked six years of transformation and synergy with SIG, with the aspiration to continue making a positive impact and driving sustainable change.
The event, which featured an exhibition of sustainable solutions, discussions, and minimalist lifestyle activations was attended by the Director of Manufacturing Solutions at Bangun Indonesia, Edi Sarwono, and the Director of Air Quality Protection and Management at the Ministry of Environment (KLH) of the Republic of Indonesia, Edward Nixon Pakpahan Ph.D, who also gave a presentation on the Program for Improving Compliance and Innovation in Sustainable Environmental Protection and Management.
Director of Manufacturing, Edi Sarwono, said that for Solusi Bangun Indonesia, sustainable business is inseparable from collaborative efforts to create value, increase profits, and protect the environment and society. “We prioritize innovation to develop a variety of environmentally friendly products and services, including those carried out by Nathabumi to help respond to customer challenges and needs in waste management and environmental conservation efforts,” said Edi Sarwono.
Continuing its transformation, Nathabumi reaffirms its commitment to strengthening collaboration and strategic partnerships with industry, government, and the community in waste and garbage management in Indonesia. Starting with the utilization of biomass, Nathabumi has expanded its services to industrial waste management and pioneered the application of refuse-derived fuel (RDF) technology in Indonesia. By the end of 2024, Solusi Bangun Indonesia will have managed and utilized a total of more than 1.8 million tons of waste and RDF as alternative fuel and raw materials in the cement production process, contributing to a 16.5% reduction in carbon emissions in the company's operations.
To date, Nathabumi has established partnerships with 19 local governments to utilize municipal waste as RDF for use as an alternative fuel in the cement production process. Since 2020, Nathabumi has processed 140,645 tons of RDF to partially substitute fossil fuels, supporting more environmentally friendly production and providing real solutions for urban waste management.
In addition, Nathabumi also continues to initiate various activities that involve the surrounding community and build public awareness of the environment. Some of these activities include the SESAMA (Sedekah Sampah Bersama or Joint Waste Donation) initiative, which involves the active participation of employees and waste banks in the surrounding operational areas; Kelas Kita (Kelola Sampah di Sekitar Kita or Managing Waste Around Us), an effort to educate elementary school students about waste management from an early age; and sustainable marine waste management in collaboration with the Gotbag Indonesia Foundation.
Edi Sarwono also emphasized the essence of collaboration in sustainable environmental management. He expressed his appreciation to various industries and local governments that have entrusted Nathabumi with waste and urban garbage management solutions. “We hope that in the future, there will be more opportunities for us to work together to create a sustainable environment and inspire more communities and other stakeholders to participate,” concluded Edi Sarwono.
At this event, Nathabumi also presented a thematic exhibition booth showcasing various environmental management innovations, including oil and gas industry waste management, environmental laboratory and waste analysis services, technology for processing municipal waste into RDF as an alternative fuel, various corporate sustainability achievements in supporting the circular economy, and a collaboration booth with the Lyfe With Less community to extend the useful life of goods through the exchange of usable secondhand items.
Previously, Nathabumi held a fun walk and planted rare tree seedlings, including merawan, blackwood, menteng, and ironwood, in the Cibinong Botanical Garden conservation area in Bogor with its employees on September 29, 2025.
